What Happens to Items Submitted for Recycling?
Just to set your mind at ease: Scarlet Girl does not repair any items, or make the parts into new toys at our facility.
Initial Treatment: When toys arrive for recycling they are processed in batches, and undergo a disinfection process before being disassembled. Forms (electronic or paper) will be processed and an invoice generated. All packing material and paperwork will be recycled.
Disassembling: Scarlet Girl will disassemble all toys, consolidate and collect the various waste streams (hard plastics, electronics, silicone, jelly plastic, etc.), and deliver the recyclable materials to the proper recycling facilities. Plastics are shredded and melted down for use in other consumer products. The metal electronic parts are recovered and shredded or melted down, and any toxic elements are properly recovered or recycled. All OSHA, EPA, state, and local standards and guidelines are met or surpassed.
Waste is processed domestically. The metals, electronics, jelly, and hard plastics are processed for reuse domestically.
The Guarantee: The Scarlet Girl recycling process is stamped and certified by an Registered Professional Environmental Engineer. The recycling facilities we contract with are regulated by OSHA and the EPA, as well as state and local safety and environmental laws. Recycling facilities used by Scarlet Girl are audited periodically to ensure they continue to meet our quality expectations.
Within 60 days of submitting a shipment for recycling you will receive a Certificate of Recycle stating that your items have been recycled by facilities
under state and federal guidelines.
